JOB DETAILS:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for various accounting and bookkeeping tasks, including but not limited to bookkeeping, data entry, bank reconciliation, preparing accounting journals, etc.
Responsibilities:
• Perform bookkeeping and data entry tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Prepare necessary accounting journals to record financial transactions.
• Generate monthly management accounts, including debtor and creditor ageing reports .
• Set up and manage cash management systems to ensure effective cash flow.
• Review and prepare payroll, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy.
• File monthly PAYE and NSSF returns promptly and accurately.
• Complete monthly VAT & WHT returns and ensure timely filing.
• Create financial checklists to streamline financial processes and ensure compliance.
• Generate monthly financial reports, including Trial Balance, Income and Expenditure statement, and Balance Sheet.
• Manage budgeting and forecasting activities to support business planning.
• Prepare and maintain a Fixed Assets Register to track company assets accurately.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements for internal and external reporting.
• Prepare documentation and manage pre-audit preparation to facilitate smooth auditing processes.
Requirements/Qualifications:
• Proficiency in QuickBooks is a MUST. Mandatory proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software.
• Minimum of 2 years of proven work experience as an Accountant or Bookkeeper.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements in Uganda.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is a plus.
