Context:
Under the general guidance of IOM Qatar in CAS (Camp Al Saiyliah) Senior Protection Coordinator and direct supervision of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Programme Manager and the close coordination with the MHPSS Family and Community Support Coordinator and Technical Supervisor, the successful candidate will be performing the following functions and responsibilities:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of a Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services’ work plan, in coordination with the MHPSS Program Manager.
- Support the Programme Manager in identifying capacity-building opportunities in CAS for the guests, IOM and non-IOM staff, support developing training materials and contribute to the delivery of training when required in close coordination.
- Assist in designing of Community Based MHPSS activities to the Afghan community and affected population based on assessed needs.
- Participate in the establishment and implementing of a referral plan, including procedures, forms, confidentiality arrangements and support the development of internal SOPs as required.
- Compile and submit biweekly and monthly reports documenting all activities and services provided. Provide information requested from the Project Development and Support Unit, including inputs to reports and communications materials.
- When required, develop purchase Request Forms (PRFs), get necessary approvals and liaise with other units/programs/departments within IOM to ensure that all items and materials are received.
- Provide technical supervision of the MHPSS training assistance staff and provide guidance, coaching and training to other staff and any relevant training focal persons.
- Assist in facilitating regular MHPSS unit meetings to assist information sharing between project staff, to ensure all staff members are aware of project objectives and current work plans and to provide the opportunity for feedback and capacity building.
- Participate in coordination meetings and relevant networks in CAS such as CAS Protection Working Group and other relevant contractors at CAS.
- Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, steering committees and technical working groups, as well as other forums, to facilitate proper coordination and presentation of IOM MHPSS services and activities.
- Assist the MHPSS Family and Community Support Coordinator and the Technical Supervisor to coordinate with project staff, partners, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and achievement of project goals.
- Support Programme Manager in the MHPSS capacity building, conflict medication and staff welfare to ensure a smooth operation of the unit.
- Assist in MHPSS emergency cases, when needed.
- Undertake any other duty as may be assigned by the MHPSS Programme Manager.
Qualifications
Education
- University Degree in Psychology, Public Health, Education or any other relevant field, with a minimum of five years of work experience, including 2 years field experience MHPSS programming, or
- High School diploma with a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience, including 2 years field experience MHPSS programming.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Proven work experience as a trainer required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
- Excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming resilience, community-based activities, development and mobilization, especially in an emergency context.
- Experience working with at-risk community members.
- Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization.
- Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.
Skills
- Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills.
- Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Data entry (database management) skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
Languages
- For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
- Basic Knowledge of Dari, Pashto, or Arabic (oral and written) is a distinct advantage.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
