The consultant will leverage their existing knowledge to refine requirements for stakeholders and propose products or solutions targeted to stakeholders’ needs with the goal of raising awareness of methane mitigation and building mitigation capacity and agency in the community. This includes 2 key outcomes: The consultant will: 1) Develop the specifications of digital platform capabilities for target stakeholder groups for the IMEO digital platform, validating the launch versions in development working closely with the platform teams. This entails reviewing the initial set of findings (user centered insights documents) to refine and prioritize critical features and functionalities for the digital data platform’s Tier 1 & 2, identifying any potential gaps and providing insights on how to go about addressing them. 2) Propose non-digital recommendations for products or services for the asset manager network, working closely with OGMP 2.0 including but not limited to defining a specification for components of a Methane Social Performance Guide to address the social behaviour change aspects

Duties and Responsibilities
UN Environment Programme (Energy and Climate Branch) hosts the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO). IMEO is a data-driven, action-focused UNEP initiative that takes an innovative approach to address the methane emissions problem by collecting, integrating, and reconciling data from different sources, including scientific measurement studies, satellites, rigorous industry reporting through the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), and national inventories. IMEO will create a global public dataset of empirically verified methane emissions, with an initial focus on fossil fuel sources and will interconnect data with actions on research, reporting, and regulation. This will catalyse deep reductions in human-made methane emissions and serve the rapidly growing ecosystem of governments, companies, investors, researchers, NGOs and other entities engaging in this crucial climate challenge. The digital insights and asset manager products advisor is needed by the IMEO team to provide insights into the development of products and tools for decision makers (sustainability leads, policy makers, investors) and asset managers around the theme of methane mitigation.
