Job Description
This position is responsible for designing online and blended certificate programs in collaboration with our university partner institutions. You will be part of the Global Design Team, which includes team members in the US, India, and across the globe. The Global Design team plays a critical role in developing our online and blended course offerings, and ensuring they meet the world-class standards of us and our partners.
- Collaborate with university faculty and staff on the design of digital and blended learning experiences for own set of courses and projects
- Conduct Backward Design sessions with faculty to anchor program learning outcomes against real-world job skills
- Define and design key course elements, including, but not limited to, observable, measurable, and meaningful learning outcomes, performance competencies, interactive elements, case studies, assessments, activities, portfolio projects, and capstone projects
- Work in coordination with the remainder of the Global Design team, as well as the Global Delivery team to ensure that course design, course launch, and daily operations run smoothly
- Provide guidance to university faculty and staff on evidence-based, best practices of instructional design
- Adhere to course design schedules, cross-functional team goals, quality assurance standards, and established processes
- Contribute to positive faculty and school relationships with a collaborative, client-focused approach
- Deliver against deadlines in a fast-paced, global environment with multiple stakeholders
- Advocate for the learner and ensure that our programs create value for them
- Remain current with research and emerging trends in instructional design and learning technology
- Support the work of peers and contribute positively to the Global Design team culture
- Manage the work of support contractors, such as subject matter experts and beta testers
- Minimum of two years of experience working with faculty in higher education
- Detailed knowledge of evidence-based instructional design practices and processes
- Demonstrated expertise in Backward Design, needs analysis and measurement of active learner responding
- Knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods, as well as analysis of learner performance data
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Close attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Willingness to travel occasionally for faculty filming
- Willingness to work occasional off-hours, depending on geographical location of faculty
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Psychology, or related field
- Demonstrated skill working with online learning tools and software
- Experience designing or converting courses for online delivery
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems
- Knowledge of accessibility standards
- Familiarity with known course design quality standards (e.g., Quality Matters)
- Experience with quality assurance and quality control processes
Compensation and Benefits:
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The compensation for this position ranges from $65,000 – $85,000 annually. Pay will be determined on several factors including but not limited to location, skills, experience and may vary from the range listed above. What to expect in the screening process:
- You will be asked to produce a writing sample that includes the kind of writing we do in course design
- If you are interviewed, you will be asked to lead a mock Backward Design session with an assigned topic
