What’s the role?
A technical specialist with strong engineering and maintenance abilities. The expectation is that the individual will spend majority of their time in the field. The Rotating Equipment Field Specialist is expected to cover the role of Rotating Equipment Engineer for short durations such as leave.
The role of Rotating Equipment Field Specialist has three key parts:
Provide on-site technical support for operations and maintenance of Rotating Equipment. Assist and coach technicians to ensure proper use and maintenance, focusing on equipment integrity. Empower teams to work independently.
Ensure quality in maintenance, overhauls, commissioning, and installation. Lead initial failure investigations and act independently, escalating issues when necessary.
Act as the field representative for Rotating Equipment Engineering. Identify and address threats to safety and reliability, and drive solutions.
Overall, the role takes strong ownership of rotating equipment, prioritize reliability, and ensure technical assurance. Communicate effectively with Operations and Maintenance to resolve issues and keep everyone informed.
SAFETY / ENVIRONMENTAL
Conduct random audits on Rotating Equipment activities to ensure safety and compliance with policies.
Lead efforts to perform these activities safely.
Coordinate with Planners and Condition Monitoring Team to complete Preventative Maintenance tasks on time.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Initiate cost-effective and reliable improvements for Rotating Equipment.
Identify and address recurring problems.
Provide technical support for troubleshooting.
Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 5 WHY activities.
Stay updated with the latest technology in the field.
DISCIPLINE SUPPORT
Assist in planning and executing major equipment repairs or modifications.
Guide Planners in managing Rotating Equipment activities and backlog.
Support the definition and execution of turnarounds.
Provide technical support for repairs, focusing on quality and reporting.
Assess deviations and escalate as needed.
Monitor repair quality, whether in the field, shop, or external facilities.
Update repair history in SAP and AIM systems.
TRAINING
Provide training on Rotating Equipment to Operators and Technicians.
Identify technical training needs.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Participate in department goals and objectives.
Provide input on performance and competency assessments of Technicians.
Arrange access for Field Service Engineers when needed.
What we need from you
An HND or equivalent qualification in relevant engineering subject
Minimum of 5 years working as a Rotating Equipment specialized technician
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Rotating equipment assurance and commissioning, leading QA/QC on major turbo-machinery overhauls of commissioning in the field
Basic understanding of vibration analysis
