You will receive training on the maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair work performed on tangent, curved and special track work, track switches and switch components, track bed, and track accessories. You will learn and apply skills required to perform scheduled, running, and emergency repairs to the track work and/or components such as turn-outs, frog castings, rails, slip switches, mechanical and electro-mechanical switching equipment and the track bed/invert. The work will also involve the setting-up and operation of rail bending equipment and assembling/adjusting to ensure proper fit.
Your training will also involve maintenance and troubleshooting on defective or inoperative track lubrication systems/equipment, small tools and snow removal components. You will be required to report and log all track related issues to Supervisory staff.
You will demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. You will help to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within your area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.
