About the Role
Mott MacDonald is looking for a Social Accountability & Governance Consultant to join the Doha, Qatar team; reporting to the Group Environmental Management System (EMS) Manager.

As the Social Accountability & Governance Consultant, you will contribute to the development and delivery of the Mott MacDonald social responsibility and social value policy. Your main responsibility will be to carry out policy horizon-scanning and to embed social accountability & governance principles into our business management systems (BMS) and business operations across all the regions where Mott MacDonald operates. You will help develop and execute social strategies for key business priorities through engagement with cross functional colleagues in a global, matrixed organisation.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and will be critical to building a narrative that delivers on business’s social objectives and furthers the organisation's mission of improving society by considering social outcomes.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

Policy/ Legislation/ International Standards
  • Review and advise on evolving social regulations, legislation and frameworks to inform Mott MacDonald’s social responsibility and social value policy and undertake social governance reviews where necessary
  • Identify and advise on the adoption of social accountability & governance related international certifications and standards
  • Keep abreast of the ongoing trends, frameworks, data reporting requirements and standards with regard to social accountability & governance
  • Enable compliance with existing and emerging requirements for social accountability & governance
Enterprise Governance
  • Develop an excellent understanding of Mott MacDonald Business Management Systems (BMS)
  • Lead, develop and champion the social accountability & governance processes within Mott MacDonald and its value chain
  • Support the development and implementation of corporate social goals and outcomes
  • Identify enterprise-level social parameters and indicators that need to be monitored and recorded to meet national and international disclosure requirements for Mott MacDonald entities
  • Analyse and substantiate global enterprise social data in order to generate internal & external reports, data visualisation and dashboards that demonstrate social performance across the organisation
Project Governance
  • Develop and support the implementation of the social requirements, guidelines, and procedures for internal Mott MacDonald bid management, project management and project delivery processes, aligned to applicable international social accountability & governance standards
  • Identify project-level social parameters and indicators that need to be monitored and recorded by projects
  • Monitor and review the implementation of the existing in-house tools (i.e. Social Transformation Model, Social Value Delivery Framework, and others) and assess the extent to which the projects’ social commitments are delivered
  • Work with Mott MacDonald social practitioners and technology teams to develop additional tools, as needed, to measure and capture the social measures on our projects
  • Contribute to the development of social training materials that help build capabilities of Project Sustainability Consultants (PSCs), enabling them to support project teams in managing social risks, opportunities and impacts on our communities through the projects
  • Work with our regions to raise awareness with regard to social commitments and to achieve buy in from our bid teams and project delivery teams
  • Assist in establishing processes and tools to enable the measurement and reporting of the social aspects and community investment through our projects

Candidate specifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree level qualification is preferable in a discipline related to social science, social management, social sustainability, or a similar discipline
  • Professional membership with recognised organisations would be advantageous
  • Expertise in a similar role, with proven record of successfully developing and implementing organisation-wide strategies, policies and management systems for large global organisations in accordance with various social standards such as Social Responsibility (ISO26000), Social Accountability Standard (SA8000), British Standard on Social Value (BS8950) and other similar international standards
  • International and national legislation, regulations & associated requirements
  • International best practice standards and guidelines (e.g. Equator Principles, International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, World Bank Group (WBG) Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Guidelines)
  • Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) frameworks, industry best practices and emerging trends
  • Social standards, social procurement and social governance best practice across Mott MacDonald’s core operating territories
  • Ability to travel for meetings where necessary
