Overview:
Humboldt Sawmill Company in Scotia, CA is seeking a Forklift Operator for their Day Shift.
This position is at an hourly rate of $25.65 and includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision and 401K matching.
The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Responsibilities:
- Drive gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials throughout the grounds.
- Participate constructively to the movement and warehousing of products to ensure the Business Unit is able to meet customer requirements for superior products in the most safe and service-oriented manner available.
- Move levers and press pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus
- Position forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hook tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area or truck
- Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device
- Inventory materials on work floor, tallies product and maintains stock rotation
- Load or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device
- Perform preoperational checks on forklifts and reports any/all service and operational concerns
- Participate in the quarterly inventory audit
- Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or trucks
- Communicate regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Operate a hand-held calculator
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees of organization
- Add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
- Capable of solving practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate
- Subject to varying weather conditions including rain, snow, ice, wind, heat and cold
- The employee must be able to use arms and legs to lift and descend themselves on and off a lift multiple times throughout the day.
- Regularly use hands and wrists to operator levers and steering wheel as well as use feet and ankles to operate pedals
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, and vibration and frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
- Personal Protective equipment is required.
