Assistant Registrar for Undergraduate Programs

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Registrar in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP), the Assistant Registrar for Undergraduate Programs works closely with the Enrollment and Student Services teams, Undergraduate Program Coordinators, and Directors of Undergraduate Studies to deliver strategic and day-to-day registrar functions for AAP’s undergraduate students and programs in Ithaca, New York City, and Rome. This includes academic record maintenance, degree tracking, enrollment and course offering planning, and student information system updates.


The Assistant Registrar supports college and university efforts to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and privacy of the student record, and works collaboratively with the AAP Office of Admissions and Student Services and the academic departments to support: distributed advising and degree tracking activities; coordinated systems, timelines, policies and procedures in support of a seamless student experience; and effective and efficient management of academic processes and related committees, including the academic review and petitions processes.


Enrollment representatives within Cornell’s colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate and partner with the Enrollment Division to accomplish the University’s enrollment goals.

The College of Architecture, Art, and Planning at Cornell University (Cornell AAP) is home to nearly 1000 students, 120 faculty, and 65 staff members who come together from around the world to take up some of today's most urgent challenges and advance research, inquiry, and approaches to designing, making, and doing that build a more just and sustainable future.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in a complex and deadline-driven environment, or an equivalent combination of education.

The successful individual will be:

  • A great communicator, exhibiting professionalism in spoken and written encounters with multiple stakeholders (faculty, staff, and students).
  • Able to handle sensitive matters and/or confidential information, and to communicate with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Able to handle high volumes of work during peak periods accurately and in a professional manner, paying close attention to detail and meeting time sensitive deadlines.
  • Flexible and able to adjust priorities as needed.
  • Organized and proactive.
  • Comfortable with technology and information systems.

Additionally, this person will have:

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • The capacity to evaluate and improve processes.
  • The ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Proficiency with computers for word processing, database management, presentation preparation, and electronic communication, and the aptitude to learn relevant software (e.g., PeopleSoft, Salesforce, FileMaker, and/or Airtable).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a registrar’s office.
  • Database, data, and reporting experience.
