The Health Education Specialist for the American Heart Association (AHA) International Training Centre (ITC) is an AHA Instructor appointment reporting to the Associate Dean or designate, College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Doha Science and Technology (UDST).
Responsibilities:
In collaboration with AHA/Training Coordinator, the AHA Instructor implements instructional curriculum in accordance with AHA Guidelines.
Commitments
- Serve as primary liaison between UDST and stakeholders for AHA related matters.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the CHS and (a) AHA; (b) ITC and Training Sites and (c) ITC and AHA ECC and Middle East Territory Director.
- Serve as the primary liaison with all stakeholders for AHA program inquiries and concerns.
- Provides the training network with updates including current information on AHA courses, science guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Provide oversight for the planning, coordination, scheduling and evaluation of AHA trainings provided by UDST
- Maintain an accurate instructor roster that is compliant with AHA ITC accreditation standards.
- In collaboration with the CPE Department, identify and arrange for other AHA instructors to facilitate trainings.
- Support other AHA instructors to deliver AHA programs that includes training and responding their inquiries and questions.
- Conduct clerical responsibilities for the administration of AHA trainings for the CHS and for the CPE Department that includes:
- Scheduling events and booking rooms for all AHA courses.
- Ordering all equipment, materials and supplies required for the AHA trainings including Ebooks, Ecourses, exams, and Ecards.
- Preparing and distributing all correspondence for AHA events including welcome letters, course agenda, course materials.
- At the direction of the CPD Coordinator, assist with the organization of stakeholder meetings, workshops, regional conferences, symposiums and other AHA community based public events and activities.
- Operate, troubleshoot and maintain all AHA equipment including simulators, equipment, and supplies.
Provide oversight for quality assurance, adherence to AHA standards and guidelines, and the maintenance of accreditation records.
- Establish and maintain an electronic documentation system for all AHA trainings that is compliant with AHA ITC accreditation standards.
- Employ security measures for exams and Ecards.
- Receive, archive, and distribute course completion E-cards to participants and training sites.
- Review and document feedback from participants for all AHA courses taught through the ITC.
- Prepare and submit annual reports and other reports, as required.
Qualifications:
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Bachelor degree in a health-related field. Consideration will be given to applicants with a post-secondary diploma in a health-related field.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor certifications are required.
Knowledge:
- Minimum of three years of recent experience teaching AHA courses preferred.
- Experience in providing instructor-led training strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Experience as a paramedic, EMT, or RN preferred.
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, presentation, group facilitation, organizational skills required.
- The ability to prioritize work and remain flexible required.
- The ability to work with all employees, students and volunteers in an honest, direct and respectful manner.
- Proficient with office equipment and technology.
- Proficient with writing reports and preparing presentations.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organization skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with international higher educational systems is an asset.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required;
- Preference will be given to applicants who have knowledge and experience in the AHA programs and operations.
